My Mother's Dream

Dear Reader,

Today, I want to tell you about one of the most important people in my life...

My mother's birthday was this week, Monday, May 27, 2024—she would have turned 72 this year.

When she passed away in 2004, I received a share of the inheritance from the sale of her house in Tennessee, where I spent my youth.

My mother worked very hard for the little she had, and I didn’t want to waste her life's work on something trivial. So, I waited almost ten years to use it in a way that would honor her memory.

I gave her sister a large part of it because my mother would have done the same. I invested the rest of the financial gift I had been given in my coaching business by hiring an excellent mentor.

Maybe some background will help you understand
why this decision made perfect sense to me …

My mother, Ginger, came from a humble background. She became a mother at 22 and never got the chance to go to college.

Over the course of her life, she mainly worked bone-hard minimum-wage jobs at places like Pizza Hut, McDonald’s, and Wal-Mart.

But just like you and me, she had a dream!

She wanted to have her own business, and for a while, she ran a pawn shop with her best friend and business partner, Helen.

When Helen died of cancer, she had to give up the business they had built with so much love … and work at someone else’s pawn shop (the owner was such a jerk, sorry to say).

But she didn’t give up her dream…

She pursued different business ideas in the little time she had between working a 6-day week and caring for a sick husband and three kids.

She learned to arrange flowers with the idea of someday becoming a professional florist, but she didn’t have the starting capital to get it going.

Later, she invested in a helium tank and bought bags and bags of balloons, intending to create our town’s first singing telegram business.

We laughed so hard when she entered the living room dressed up as a clown, practicing the delivery of birthday wishes.

Unfortunately, that didn’t take off, but she didn’t give up!

As kids, we heard the story a dozen times—how, as a young woman, she had worked in a department store as an undercover detective and actually captured a thief barehanded.

So, taking an online course and becoming certified as a private detective seemed like an obvious next step for her. She thought that would be a great way to make a living and be free to choose her hours making stake-outs.

(We lived in a tiny town with mostly cows and hardly any crime, so I have no clue who she thought would need this service. She was wonderfully unrealistic, and I loved that about her!)

She never realized her dream before she passed away, and it really makes me tear up thinking about it. She just wanted to be free and make a good living doing something she loved.

She was like you and me!

I was so happy when I came up with the idea to give my community a special opportunity on my mother's birthday. On that day, I gave away my "Successful Soulopreneur System" (valued at €1,500) to my entire email list for one day.

The promotion is over, but my mother's story has touched and encouraged thousands of people never to give up.
